(Blog 1) Todays Post 9-4-12

A Final Touch Documentory

Today I read a story about a man that lives in Winthrop Maine and his name is Tom. He is also known as the "Tom of Maine", yes like the toothpaste. He started like everyone else does at the bottom of the totem pole. I learned form the story that he gives back to the communities. He has 11 brothers and sisters and sent them postcards from Maine. On the front of the card is scenery and on the back he writes a letter. Every time he writes a letter he adds a person to his list. He may not know the person but he still writes them. For every 2 letters that are sent to an elderly home or people he would send one more letter.

  1. Michelle, Good overview of the story, but missing some key pieces. The assignment goal was to draw from the two examples: Tom and the radio piece to get an idea of how a feature is constructed. What does it generally begin with, what type of paragraph generally comes next...? If you fill this framework out, you will have an outline to go by when you write your own feature. Reading the assignment over on our class website will help keep you focused on what you need to include in the post.
