First you want to write a lead. A lead is able to tell a summary of what the story is about in 40 words or less. You need to find, What Happened? What could happen next? Who was involved? Where did it happen? When did it happen? Why did it happen?, and also How did it happen? When all those notes are collected you begin to divide them into different parts. You most need to get a piece form each question and begin to compile the words together to make them make sense. The writing for a quick story does not need to be large. It can range from size to one huge paragraph to 4 small paragraphs. A vintage lead is for political enviormental stories. They are much longer in length then to the usual one. The stories should fallow the inverted pyramid.

ReplyDeleteAlmost have it but a little off. A lead is what you call the first sentence or two of any type of news story whether it is a feature or a quick news story. For our purposes we will write news leads -short who, what, when, where, for our quick stories and more vinette/story style leads for our feature. Be sure to proof your posts before hitting publish.
